What are private APNs why do you often hear them talked about for M2M cellular data, and in the context of security, and what do we think about them?

Private APN’s are best used in ‘simple’ cellular devices – those that don’t manage security, privacy and traffic flows themselves. However if you are using intelligent devices at the edge – like Peplink SDWAN routers, the value and advantages of private APNs are less clear.
